Work Package 7 - Communicating the results of probabilistic assessmentsObjective: Develop guidance on communicating the results of probabilistic risk assessments to decision-makers and the public. This work package is reviewing relevant research on risk communication and identify special challenges associated with communicating probabilistic risk estimates. It will propose a set of key principles for communicating risk estimates to decision-makers in the EU regulatory context, and to the public. The primary focus is on communicating risk estimates to decision-makers, because the project includes risk assessors, decision-makers and risk communication specialists who will develop and test appropriate methods. But we will also produce preliminary guidance on communicating risk estimates to the public, although it is expected that this will require further research with more public participation. The work package is coordinating research activities to test the proposed approaches in case studies (Work Package 8) and with end-users (Work Package 12).
